races which do not clash. Each way doubles, trebles or accumulators
are calculated as separate transactions, win stakes go all on to
win and place stakes all on the place i.e. "WIN TO WIN - PLACE TO
PLACE" unless it is clearly stipulated by the client "EACH WAY ALL
EACH WAY" or "EQUALLY DIVIDED". Through the card bets will be settled
for the number of races at that meeting.

three forecasts for a forecast treble or four or more forecasts
for accumulators be accepted in error, the stakes will be equally
divided and settled as mixed forecast doubles. Straight or reversed
forecasts are accepted for races of 3 or more runners and will be
settled at the Computer Straight Forecast odds. All forecast bets
will be settled as straight forecasts unless otherwise nominated.
Should a client nominate a National Sporting League Chart Forecast
for horse racing, it will be settled as a Computer Straight Forecast.
Should a client nominate a duel forecast then the stakes will be
divided and the bet settled as a Reversed Computer Straight Forecast.
If no Computer Straight Forecast is returned, forecast bets will
be settled in accordance with the National Sporting League Straight
Forecast Chart, and if no Starting Prices are returned, the bets
will be void, win or lose. Should a non-runner be selected in a
forecast, that forecast will be settled as a win single on the remaining
runner. Through the card forecast bets will be settled on the number
of races at that meeting.
RULE 6 - Favourites
First, and second favourites are accepted win only singles, doubles,
trebles and accumulators. Where two or more start at the same price,

in the Starting Price returns at the shortest price. If there are
two horses at the shortest price, they are joint first and second
favourites, and in the case of three horses at the shortest price,
they are co. first and second favourites.
RULE 7 - Dead Heats
In the event of a dead heat, clients lose half their stakes, and
are paid full odds to the other half, e.g. if a client invests 50p
on a selection that starts at 10-1 and which dead heats for first
place, half the stake is lost leaving 25p staked at 10-1. In the
event of a dead-heat for second, third or fourth place, half the
place stake is lost and the appropriate place odds are paid to the
remaining half stake according to the number of runners and type
of race as laid down in Rule 4. In the event of a multiple dead-heat
stakes will be divided in proportion.
RULE 8 - Walk-Overs
For the purpose of settling doubles, trebles and accumulators, a
walk-over is considered a race.
RULE 9 - Antepost Betting
Antepost bets are accepted on the principal of all in enter or not,
run or not. Should a selection become a non-runner after the time
of acceptance, the bet will be a losing one.
All Antepost prices are subject to fluctuation, and Antepost bets
will be settled at the price ruling at the time of acceptance, which
must be confirmed by the Manager, and must be recorded on the betting
slip by our staff.
The right is reserved to correct any palpable error.
Doubles, trebles and accumulators will be calculated at accumulative
odds, except when the same selection is taken to win two or more
events, when reduced odds may apply.
When there has been Antepost betting on an event which does not
eventually take place, all singles bets on that event are void,
but accumulative bets will stand, the entries for the event not
taking place will be treated as non-runners and the remaining selection(s)
settled at the Antepost prices laid. If a horse is balloted out
under Jockey Club Rule 125, single bets on that horse will be void.
In such circumstances, accumulative Antepost bets will stand, the
balloted out selection being treated as a non-runner and the remaining
selection(s) settled at Antepost prices laid. In the event of a
race being postponed, bets will be decided in accordance with Tattersalls'
ruling. Each way Antepost bets are settled Win to Win and Place
to Place. We do not accept "place only", "any-to-come", or "if cash"
bets at Antepost odds.
RULE 10 - Actual Odds
All wagers will be settled at the actual returned odds i.e. 10/11,
6/5, 85/40.
RULE 11
Where a board price is taken, this will apply to the selection throughout
the slip. Board Prices will be laid only when a selection is quoted
at a specific price.
Those not so quoted e.g. "10 to 1 bar" or "12 to 1 bar" cannot be
laid at 10 to 1 or 12 to 1. Where a bet at Board Price is accepted
the odds must be confirmed by the Manager, and must be recorded
on the betting slip by our staff. The right is reserved to rectify
clerical and Board Price errors. Where a Board Price has been marked
incorrectly or incorrect odds have been relayed from the course,
such bets will be settled at Starting Price.
Where a Board Price has been taken for any race which subsequently
re-run, the bet will be executed at Starting Price in the re-run
unless mutually called off.
In the event of a withdrawal, a deduction from winning bets struck
before the withdrawal will be made in accordance with Tattersalls'
Rule 4.
First show bets accepted subject to the discretion of the Manager.
Only Board prices that have been transmitted via S.I.S. will be
accepted.
RULE 12 - Jockey's Mounts
Bets on a jockey's mounts are accepted and the number of doubles,
trebles or accumulators must be specified. If a client requests
three doubles and one treble on Piglet's mounts with no times or
races specified, and Piglet has more than three mounts, then the
bet will be settled in proportion. If however, he has only two mounts,
the bet will be settled as if the third mount was a non-runner.
Where no meeting is specified and a jockey is riding at more than
one meeting (which may include an evening meeting) double, trebles
etc. will be settled on the first meeting at which the jockey rides
after the bet is accepted. Where a single bet is placed on a jockey's
mount, and it is un-timed, it will be taken to be for the next race
to be run in which that jockey has a mount.
RULE 13 - Conditional Bets
(a) Any to Come Bets
This type of bet continues until the stakes any winnings are exhausted.
In the case of "any to come" each way bets when there is insufficient
money in hand to cover the full stake for the next selection, priority
will be given to the win stake and any balance will be invested
for a place. All "any to come" bets are dealt with on this principle.
When there is insufficient stake money in hand to cover reversed
or combination forecasts involved. It must be stated distinctly
from which horse or horses the "any to come" is to be taken. "Any-to-come"
bets on to a Forecast Double, must not exceed the original stake.
Where a client omits to mention the stake in an "any to come" bet,
the amount staked on the preceding selection will be invested. Cash
in hand from one horse cannot go on to the same horse or race in
any circumstances. Unless the "any to come" portion is clearly stated,
one or more "crosses" in an up and down bet means single stakes.
When "double stakes" are required, this must be clearly indicated.
(b) Stop at a Winner Bets
"Each way stop at a winner" bets continue until one of the selections
either occupies or dead-heats for first place.
In conditional bets where a selection is a non-runner, the stakes
will not be revised and will stand as written.
RULE 14 - Withdrawals
When a horse is withdrawn before coming under orders and there is
no time to reform the market, bets will be settled in accordance
with Tattersalls' Rule 4.
Tattersalls' Rule 4

it has been officially notified that a horse has been withdrawn

order. Unnamed favourites not accepted. A tricast including an unnamed
favourite selection will be declared void. Tricasts will be settled
in accordance with official computer returns. Should selections
for a tricast include one non runner, the stake will be invested
as a Computer Straight Forecast on the remaining two selections
in the order written with the non runner being discounted. In the
case of a combination tricast with a non runner the total amount
will be settled as a reversed forecast on the remaining selection.
Should selections for a tricast include two non runners the stake
will be invested as a win single at Starting Price on the remaining
selection, returns will be subject to a tax deduction. If for any
reason a tricast is accepted on a race which does not return a computer
tricast dividend then the bet will be settled as a straight forecast,
on the first two selections named and with combination tricasts
the bet will be settled as combination forecasts. Tricasts are only
accepted in singles. Tricast Doubles and upwards are not accepted

RULE 20 - Void Races
In the event of any race being declared void and not re-run, all
selections will be treated as non-runners, including favourites.
Where a race is re-run all bets for that race will stand for the
re-run unless mutually called of before the re-run (subject to Rule
11).
RULE 21 - Clients' Instructions
The following apply equally to horse and greyhound bets:-
(a) When a client times a horse for a race in which it does not
run, the bet will stand for the race in which the selection runs.
If a horse is double engaged, the bet stands for the race timed
by the client.
(b) Should the horse's name be incorrectly spelt, the bet will be
executed provided that we are satisfied as to the identity of the
horse intended. Should there be two horses engaged with similar
names the stake will be divided equally between the possible intentions.
(c) When a race is nominated as for example "second race" or "last
race", this is taken as placed and timed in the day's programme
as shown in the Sporting Life.
(d) Where only a single stake is shown with a single selection the

trap number or trap number forecasts, and is either un-timed , or
incorrectly timed, all such bets will be taken as intended for the
next advertised race to be run. Should the bet however be timed
for an event which has already taken place, that bet will be void.
Where a client has omitted to state a meeting and we are unable
to satisfy ourselves as to the intentions, bets on un-named favourites
will be settled as horse racing bets. Should, however, there be
no horse racing, bets on un-named favourites will be settled on
the next greyhound race to be run., and through the card bets will
be settled on the first meeting to be covered by S.I.S. after the
bet is accepted. In the event of there being two or more races scheduled
for the same advertised time, the stakes will be divided equally.
If however, the selection is un-timed, or incorrectly timed, but
a meeting stated, the bet will be considered as being for the next
race to be run at that meeting after the time of acceptance.
(ii) Where a client omits to state the times or meeting for accumulative
bets on trap numbers and trap number forecasts, bets will be taken
for consecutive races at one meeting, starting with the next advertised
race covered by S.I.S. after the time of acceptance.
(iii) Where a bet is timed, but no meeting is stated, or a meeting
is stated that is not taking place that day, then it will be taken
as being for the meeting at that time. In event of there being more
than one such meeting, stakes will be divided equally.
(iv) All bets received showing stakes, times of races, and meetings,
but with no other instructions, will be taken to mean bets for favourites.
RULE 22 - Betting Duty and Levy
An amount relative to the rate of Betting Duty and Levy will be
deducted from all returns.

months of the event taking place.
(c) Bets placed in Licensed Betting Offices are valid only when
they are on duplicate betting slips and accompanied by the stake
money, and are handed over the counter, officially accounted for
on the cash register, and recorded on the security microfilm unit.
This is for the protection of both the client and the company. Bets
which do not comply in all respects with this rule will be void
or lose.
(d) Where a receipt is presented for payment, and for any reason
it does not correspond with the original betting slip, the microfilm
record will be taken as the basis for settlement. In the event of
a client producing a receipt copy for which the corresponding original
slip is not in our possession and which does not appear on the relevant
microfilm, the stakes as shown on the receipt will be refunded and
no further claim will be considered.
(e) A line drawn across a slip indicates the end of a bet and the
start of a separate bet.
(f) When the "Off Signal" is received for a race covered by the
S.I.S., a security "Off Slip" is recorded on the cash registers
and micro-film cameras, and all selections subsequently placed for
that particular race will be deemed "too late" and will be treated
as non runners.
(g) Bets placed after advertised times of races not covered by the
S.I.S. will be declared void - win or lose.
(h) Should 5 or more bets, each containing the same selection either
horse, greyhound or any other event or combination thereof, be placed
